Trades covered
Building contractors and general building contractors. Code 3-2-1 lists: masonry; carpentry; roofing; heating, air conditioning and ventilation; grading and paving; landscaping; drywall, ceiling, flooring and any other separate trade not specifically referred to above ... but not including electrical or plumbing contractors. Code 3-8-2 exempts plumbing and electrical contractors (state licensed). FAQ: 'Before a building permit is issued, all contractors and subcontractors listed on the permit must be licensed and insured with the Village.'

Notes

Requirements taken from the codified ordinance (Title 3 Ch. 8 Contractors; Title 3 Ch. 2 fee schedule) because the village web pages have no contractor-license content beyond the FAQ statement, and the 2024 application PDF returned 404. Third-party bond sites (contractorbonds.com, americassuretybonds.com) list a $20,000 Monee contractor license bond, consistent with the code minimum; contractorbonds.com also mentions '$10,000 or $20,000' (third-party, flagged). Monee publishes contractor directories (General Contractor Directory / Subcontractor Directory) on its Building Services page. Electrical and plumbing contractors are exempt from the village contractor license per 3-8-2/3-2-1 but the FAQ says all contractors on a permit must be 'licensed and insured with the Village' - verify with Building Services.
